Seconds Whinnlater Forest JU3 Jug

Numbered Edition
Jug

Any nature enthusiast will tell you that the Lake District is teeming with the distinctive black and white stripes of badgers, one of Britain’s most loved wild creatures, with an abundance of setts in the woods around Thirlmere. Whinnlater Forest and Dodd Wood, close to Bassenthwaite Lake, are homes to a wonderful variety of protected wildlife and are perfect spots to seek out the elusive badgers when they come out at night. Footprints in the soft earth, and scratches on tree trunks are just two signs that you close to a sett. Some of Kerry Goodwin’s family of badgers, lift their heads to listen for warning signs of approaching animals, while others forage on the woodland floor, illuminated by the soft twilight breaking through the glade of silver birches.

What is a Moorcroft second? All our art pottery is closely inspected before it leaves the Moorcroft factory and the selection process is as rigorous as any in the world. As a result, not all pieces emerge unblemished in their quality assessment. The fault or faults may be in the finish of a piece, whether it be a tiny tubeline miss, an incorrectly painted petal, or a small glaze run. Seconds are not ‘red-dotted’, all of them are far too good for that, and each seconds piece has a charm and individuality of its own. Any fault is not structural and the piece can still be used for the purpose it was made.
