An Arts and Crafts Christmas
Christmastime is when the traditions of the Arts and Crafts movement come to the fore. The desire to create something by hand, to demonstrate the love and affection we have for others with a personal touch, is stronger than at any other time of the year. For many of us Christmas sees us adorning our houses with plants such as holly and mistletoe, decorations and ornaments – many of which are handmade.
One of the most prominent members of the Arts and Crafts movement was William Morris (1834-1896) who advocated “have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”. Moorcroft designers have always upheld the words of Morris and this season they have collectively created an Arts and Crafts Christmas collection for you to enjoy. Inspiration comes from past champions of the Arts and Crafts movement including Herbert Percy Horne, Frances and Margaret MacDonald, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, James Herbert McNair, and C.F.A. Voysey.
Today’s designs continue to extol the virtues of quality and craftmanship at Christmastime, with each created in the knowledge they will bring beauty to your house during the festive season and long into the new year.
