Mrs Mack 216/8 Vase
Part of the Women of the Glasgow Style Collection
This collection draws inspiration from the women of the Glasgow Style movement and the artistic world of the Mackintosh era. Featuring designs created by, inspired by, or depicting women connected to this influential artistic period, the collection celebrates the creativity, symbolism and decorative beauty that defined turn-of-the-century Glasgow.
Mrs Mack
Inspired by the artwork of Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, wife of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and a pioneering Scottish artist and designer in her own right, Mrs Mack takes influence from The Opera of the Seas — a stunning gesso panel created to decorate a piano in 1903, just ten years before William Moorcroft took the steps across the park to establish his own factory.
Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh created gesso panels to adorn furniture designed by her husband, with her larger works often becoming the focal point of a room. Her contribution was essential to many of Mackintosh’s most celebrated interior design projects.
