Glasgow Garden 163/9 Vase
Part of the Women of the Glasgow Style Collection
This collection draws inspiration from the women of the Glasgow Style movement and the artistic world of the Mackintosh era. Featuring designs created by, inspired by, or depicting women connected to this influential artistic period, the collection celebrates the creativity, symbolism and decorative beauty that defined turn-of-the-century Glasgow.
Glasgow Garden
Charles Rennie Mackintosh was deeply influenced by gardening and the natural world, with his signature style firmly rooted in nature. Stylised floral motifs - most notably roses - appeared throughout his work, while his buildings were often designed alongside complementary geometric gardens, treating the outdoor space as an extension of the interior.
Here, Nicola imagines what such a view may have looked like. Could that be Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh and her contemporaries tending to a geometric rose trellis amid tulips and stylised foliage?
