Where Rivers Meet PLQ11 Plaque

Legend is that on a boat from Pen Llŷn to Anglesey, St Beuno’s book of sermons fell overboard but was retrieved by a brown bird with a long, curved bill. St Beuno decreed that Curlew nests would always be difficult to find and should be protected for ever. Mottled-brown Curlews wade in the sun-drenched mud-flaps as a lone Curlew flies overhead. In the words of Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas, “throats where many rivers meet, the Curlews cry.”
