Many Moorcroft collectors are likely aware that 2025 marks the centenary of Stoke-on-Trent receiving its well-deserved city status. Unfortunately, while the celebrations were in full swing earlier in the year, devastating news emerged from the factory, when, on 30th April the closure of Moorcroft was announced. 57 jobs were lost, and the heritage skills that had been preserved at Moorcroft for more than 100 years, hung in the balance.
Little did we know, waiting quietly in the wings was Will Moorcroft, the grandson of our founder, who on 13th June 2025, revealed that he had acquired the company.

Since June, much has been happening behind the scenes in readiness for Moorcroft to enter confidently into a new era. We can now proudly say that all staff are united under one roof at our historic 1913 factory, built by William Moorcroft. Production is back in full swing, and designers Emma Bossons FRSA and Nicola Slaney are working on some wonderful new creations to be revealed in the weeks and months ahead.

Our website is now up and running, with more and more stock items being updated daily, and following our successful reopening event in September, the Moorcroft Heritage Visitor Centre is now regularly welcoming visitors once again, with factory tours due to recommence in the very near future. (Opening Hours: Wednesday – Saturday, 10.30am – 4.30pm).
For those who have not been able to visit us just yet, the good news is that a virtual visit to our website offers a chance to view and order our commemorative design, Cornflower 2025. This design was unveiled at our reopening event and is the first new piece introduced under the leadership of Will Moorcroft. Nicola Slaney drew inspiration from William’s original Cornflower design (c. 1905), and is only available to order until 31st December 2025.

With the first new design officially available to order, we were able to turn our attentions back to this important year for Stoke-on-Trent, all starting with a short visit to a very special mural which has been painted in our town centre. The 100 Years 100 Faces artwork honours local celebrities and community champions, including our founder himself.

In our centenary year, we are now proud to launch two special designs which had been created earlier this year by Kerry Goodwin and Paul Hilditch. Both designers take us back to a time when bottle ovens dominated the Stoke skyline. In addition, Kerry gives us a familiar ‘Stokie’ chap taking a stroll along the canal, while Paul pays homage to Reginald Joseph Mitchell, the leader of the team who designed the Spitfire, who was raised in Stoke-on-Trent.

Our celebrations will continue as we move into the festive season, with new designs from Emma and Nicola due to be launched at our Christmas event, due to be held on Friday 28th & Saturday 29th November. See our events page for further details or call 01782 820500 (9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday) to book your tickets.
