Operating out of the original brick factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England, complete with its own Grade II listed bottle oven, Museum and Heritage Visitor Centre, Moorcroft uses the distinctive slip-trailing methods pioneered by William Moorcroft at the end of the 19th century. This incredibly labour-intensive process produces colourful designs of intricacy, brilliance, and clarity in the Arts and Crafts tradition. On each of the three Heritage Open Days, we shall throw open our working factory doors and all our production departments will be available for you visit, as you take your time on a self-guided tour.  The working factory will be open from 10.30am-2.30pm.

In addition each day, one of our designers will be with us to showcase their portfolio of designs and show you how a Moorcroft design starts life.

On Wednesday meet designer Nicola Slaney

On Thursday meet designer Kerry Goodwin

On Friday meet senior designer Rachel Bishop

The Museum will also be home to an interesting exhibition ARTS & CRAFTS DESIGN THROUGH THE DECADES in addition to showcasing pieces by our founding father, William Moorcroft, from 1897-1945 we shall also be celebrating the finest examples of Moorcroft’s Arts and Crafts styling.

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.  For more information visit heritageopendays.org.uk
