Monarch of the Mountainside 122/8 Vase

What designer, Nicola Slaney, offers us with Monarch of the Mountainside, is a conundrum surrounding the ever-moving Monarch butterfly with its capacity to migrate between 1200 and 1800 miles during its short but active lifetime. The Monarch butterfly needs just one species of wild flower on which to feed and that is Milkweed. No milkweed means no Monarch butterflies. It really is as simple as that. To watch a Monarch butterfly in flight is an awesome experience. Certainly, the Monarchs see the Rocky Mountains as protecting their home habitat in the Shenandoah valley and the two seem to fit naturally together. In season, Milkweed is plentiful and both the upper and lower reaches of the Shenandoah valley provide the migratory butterflies with a friendly habitat. Nicky draws this together in a classic vase carrying an overall autumnal tone.
