Rockbourne PLQ2 Plaque

Numbered Edition

Rockbourne Trout Fishery is located in the New Forest, on the edge of the picturesque village of Rockbourne, complete with six lakes spread over 55 acres of unspoilt woodland and pasture land. It is the sort of place pictured on Father’s Day cards where the river Sweatford Waters, an area of outstanding natural beauty, holds fly fishermen captive with pristine chalk stream fishing. Indeed, Rockbourne is one of the most peaceful, secluded and beautiful spots to fly fish in the country with an abundance of fly life and some exquisite wild brown trout and river life.

Rockbourne takes an unusual perspective, capturing fins and scales with a multitude of hand painted dots and vivid colours that mimic the surface foliage, a summer sky and the lily blooms that radiate from pale pink through to the darkest of reds, white, yellow and orange tones. With movement in the round, so hard to create on a plaque without the voluptuous curves of a Moorcroft vase, a lone fish curls around the waterlily pads and stems, on its journey to the surface. It is as if you are the fish, propelling yourself through the ribbons of petioles which connect the floating leaves to roots anchored at the bottom of Rockbourne.
