In one way or another, all of us are emerging from a Covid-19 global lockdown. Moorcroft’s very own Kerry Goodwin has been gathering up her thoughts to make us all smile when lockdown starts to ease. Bird Bath is the outcome. It comes in the idiom of Tree Sparrows, a much loved and profoundly respected plaque introduced in 2015 and still in production today. The reason is not difficult to see. A family of quarrelsome tree sparrows squabble over breakfast, and it made us smile. That is good for the soul.
During lockdown many of us have been entertained by the birds in our gardens. In Bird Bath a belligerent blue tit battle with a stubborn blackbird, encouraged by a vociferous great tit and young thrush, while water flies in all directions. It is a scene of friendly chaos, as if the birds themselves have just emerged from a long hibernation. Bird Bath has arrived as something very special in the world of Moorcroft. It is a happy piece to be both treasured and enjoyed.
