Maya 159/10 Vase

Vase

Native to South Africa, freesias are often said to represent the silhouettes of ballet dancers with their elegant poise. Nicola Slaney has captured these delicate zygomorphic blooms in a vibrant collection, Maya, named after the famous Russian ballet dancer, Maya Plisetskaya. Striking funnel-blooms in violaceous, soft cotton-pinks and pale, turquoise flutter upwards in a fouetté. Against an ivory ground, slender stalks stand straight with pinnately compound leaves. As if choreographed, an abundance of mustard-buds bend in a plié to finish this elegant design.
