The Glade PLQ11 Plaque

The lead piece for the collection is ‘The Glade’ inspired by the pond area in the lower, central part of the Gardens.  Water never fails to attract and visitors are very fond of its peaceful atmosphere and beauty throughout the seasons.  Several Swamp Cypress trees can be found here interspersed with the lush foliage of Bamboo mixed with bold herbaceous perennials including the enormous umbrella like Gunnera mannicata or smaller scale green carpets of lilies seen floating on the water.  Rachel’s design captures the scene beautifully but most importantly the identity of the Gardens at the same time.  A background glade of trees from around the world predominates in mixed shapes and outline softened by a foreground of water lilies and foliage.
